Until middle of August 2014, the international exhibition, curated by the Victoria & Albert Museum (London), is shown at the Martin-Gropius-Bau. The exhibition retraces the career of this exceptional artist, explores his creative process of creation as a musical performer and cultural icon, and illustrates his diverse style changes and reinventions. Approx. 300 objects from the David Bowie Archives, including hand-written set lists and songs, original stage costumes, photographs, clips from films and live concerts, music videos of songs, unpublished storyboards, lyrics, word collages as well as drawings, notes and diary entries from Bowie’s personal collection. David Bowie's Berlin years (1976-1978) are considered to be his most prolific period. He felt and feels himself strongly connected to the city. Recently in 2013 he released his last single "Where are we now?” in Berlin. Here, he produced three albums, also called the Berlin trilogy – “Low” (1977), “Lodger” (1979) and “Heroes” (1977). The exhibition at the Martin- Gropius-Bau will be extended accordingly by this Berlin covers. “David Bowie” is designed to be an immersive audio-visual experience. Monbijoutheater
at the Monbijoupark

Monbijou Theater at the Monbijoupark © Monbijou-Theater im Monbijoupark

In 1994, the ”Hexenkessel” (=cauldron) Theatre was founded in a backyard near the Schöhauser Allee in Prenzlauer Berg. In 1999 the ensemble moved into the Monbijoupark, which is located opposite to the Bode Museum in Berlin-Mitte. The opening of the beach bar along the River Spree in 2002 was later followed by a theatre ship and the two huts with their Grimm tales productions in winter. Finally, the amphitheatre was added in 2008. With its 20th anniversary the theatre will be renamed as “Monbijoutheater”. This season attracts Shakespeare's loony piece "What You Will" and the fascinating "A Midsummer Night's Dream", and "La Mandragola" by Niccolò Machiavelli. The beach bar invites daily for Tango, Salsa and Mambo dance evenings (free entry) or dance lessons for Swing and Tango (5-6 € per person). For information regarding repertoire, times and location please feel free to contact our reception staff.
